Texas billionaire Jerry Jones, who owns the Dallas Cowboys, talks during Tuesday’s press conference in Mexico to promote Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Ghana’s Joshua Clottey on March 13 at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

Texas billionaire Jerry Jones had an unforgettable experience during the ongoing whirlwind tour of Mexico to promote his ambitious project – the March 13 fight between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey.

“Manny Pacquiao is an enigma,” Jones told the Bulletin in his Texas twang Wednesday from Mexico City where he is holed out with Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum.

Jones, who owns the Dallas Cowboys and the Cowboys Stadium that will be the site of the Pacquiao-Clottey bout, said he marveled with the way the Mexican media and public responded to the event and specially to the Filipino fighter.

“Manny is well-respected, well-liked and beloved by Mexico, whose men he had beaten up,” said the awe-inspired Jones, who is joining hands with Arum‘s Top Rank Inc. in staging the world title match.

“The reception (here in Mexico) is unbelievable” added Jones, whose next stop will be the city of Monterrey where he and Arum are expected to preside over another press conference.

Jones and Arum decided to visit Mexico to further hype up the fight with the inclusion of Mexican fighters – featuring one-time Pacquiao sparring partner and ex-world champion Jose Luis Castillo – on the undercard.

“We are mesmerized with the reception given to us,” said Arum.

Meanwhile, Clottey is back in New York after a week-long stay in his native Ghana.

Top Rank publicist Lee Samuels could not confirm if Clottey was able to bring in his trainer-of-choice, Godwin Dzanie Kotey, whose application for the renewal of his US visa was denied in the capital city of Accra.

Samuels said Clottey made sure he did not let up in training while he was in Ghana.

“I was told by his manager Vinny Scolpino that Clottey trained hard while he was in Ghana,” said Samuels.

Team Clottey is headed for the Contenders Gym in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this weekend.

Pacquiao to Fight Clottey on March 13

Promotions and Manny Pacquiao’s camp agreed to fight Joshua Clottey on March 13, 2010. This is the result of the failed negotiations of the megafight Pacquiao vs Mayweather. After both camps didn’t agree with the terms of the fight (specifically the method of drug testing), Bob Arum announced that the pound for pound king will be fighting against the Ghana-native boxer. When I read about this news, I really find it to be a very easy fight for the Filipino fighter. This conclusion is just based on Clottey’s fight against Miguel Cotto (who was beaten by Pacman on their last match).

However, this thinking changed when I heard Freddie Roach said that this match will be one of the best boxing event and Pacquiao will surely have a hard time with him compared to Mayweather. It will not be a boring fight – not directly said by him but this is what he is trying to say.

The said fight will be held at the Cowboys Stadium at Dallas but Arum doesn’t confirm yet if it will be featured in HBO or not.

For your comments and reactions, you can leave it on the form below. You can also check on the updates of this post whenever there is an important updates will happen about the fight and I will try later to share the possible different options on where to watch the said anticipated Pacquiao vs Clottey fight online. Update (01/21/2010): Pacquiao vs Clottey “The Event” can be watched on HBO PPV after HBO agreed to cover the said mega event of the year in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Mayweather’s camp also tried to convince the latter to cover his upcoming fight but HBO prefers Pacman’s fight.

Ticket Cost: $50 – $700 (from corner end zone to front near ring on the floor of the Cowboys Stadium).

Do you remember Joshua Clottey? Yes, that's him. The boxer that is the last opponent of Miguel Cotto before the latter fight the people's champ Manny Pacquiao. Clottey lost against Cotto but he gave him a "fight" that made him to be eyed by the top rank promotions to fight Pacquiao this coming March 13. The Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight is scheduled to happen at the Cowboys Stadium at Texas. They'll be fighting in a 12 round welterweight bout. This match happens when the Pacquiao vs Mayweather failed.

Boxing Analysts said that Pacquiao will be surely having a hard time to fight Clottey since he has a very defensive style and outrageous counter punches. Of course, analysts still put their "bet" on Pacquiao since they believe that his power, speed and wit can still overcome Clottey's defense. Let see later if this happens or is this Pacquiao vs Clottey event will be one of the greatest upset for the champ.

Mayweather agrees to fight Mosley
February 4, 2010, 3:12pm

NEW YORK, February 03, 2010 (Reuters) – Floyd Mayweather Jr., whose planned superfight with Manny Pacquiao fell apart last month over drug testing stipulations, will fight Shane Mosley on May 1, the boxer's promoter said on Wednesday.

The two fighters had agreed to Olympic-style drug testing, a major sticking point that killed talks for a proposed fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather Promotions said in a statement.

"This one is definitely for the fans as I wasn't going to waste anyone's time with a meaningless tune-up bout and asked to fight Shane immediately," six-time world champion Mayweather said in the statement.

"I have said ever since I came back to the sport that I only wanted to fight the best. I think Shane is one of the best, but come May 1, he still won't be great enough to beat me."

Mayweather (40-0), 32, retired in 2008 but returned to the ring last September with an easy decision over Juan Manuel Marquez after an 18-month break.

The 38-year-old Mosley last fought in January 2009 when he earned a ninth-round stoppage against Antonio Margarito to win the welterweight world title for the third time.

"I have always wanted to fight Floyd and now it is finally coming true," said Mosley. "I am already in great shape and ready to show everyone on May 1 that I am stronger, faster and better than he is. I will have no problem beating him."

Five-time champion Mosley (46-5) signed the deal last Friday for the fight to be held in Las Vegas.

Filipino Pacquiao will defend his WBO welterweight title against Ghanaian Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas on March 13.

Pacquiao Will Fight Winner of Berto vs. Mosley?
Saturday, January 2, 2010

After the failure on the negotiations between Pacquiao and Mayweather's camp to make the super megafight Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, Bob Arum is seeking for another fighter that will qualify to be the opponent of the pound for pound king. One option will be either Shane Mosley or Andre Berto depending who will be crowned as the new WBC-WBA Unification Welterweight bout champion this coming January 30, 2010 on the Mosley vs Berto match. Both of this fighter are known for having an aggressive fighting style. Mosley is said to be one of the fighter that Mayweather doesn't like to fight. While Andre Berto is impressively has an undefeated professional boxing record of 25-0 19KOs.

Well if that happens, we can surely watch another amazing fight from the people's champ of the Philippines. So it will be either, Pacquiao vs. Berto or Pacquiao vs. Mosley. Which one do you like?
